Met Dave. An avid traveller with a wealth of knowledge about the world, the universe and everything.
G’day Dave. How are you?
Very well, thankyou.
That’s great. And what are you up to on this spectacular day?
I’m at Burleigh Heads about to do an Indigenous walking tour. I am really looking forward to it.
And where are you from Dave?
I’m originally from the Shoalhaven. I also lived in Indonesia as a child.
For the last 4 years I’ve lived on the far South Coast of NSW in the Bega Valley.
Such a beautiful part of the world! What do you like to get up to down there?
Cycling 12km into town. Going out with one of my support workers to go to the beach, bushwalking, kayaking and swimming in the river.
Sounds like you’re a natural adventurer. What’s your favourite holiday destination?
New York City is the top of my list. I have been twice. Once in 1989 and once in 2019. I was accompanied by a good friend of my sister and I feel very lucky to have had that opportunity.
What’s your favourite thing about travelling with Trusted Travel?
Meeting new people and catching up with people I have met on other trips. Having support workers who organise everything makes it possible to travel. At the moment I am unable to go with other friends or family so Trusted Travel is great for me.
Time for the obligatory bucket list question. What’s one place you would love to visit that you haven’t been before?
I am very interested in urban planning and heritage buildings and architecture. I would love to visit London and see how new steel and glass skyscrapers interact with the older environment like castles and stone towers.
What advice would you have for someone travelling with a disability?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Follow the lead of other adventurers. Find people to travel with. Friends, support workers or a company like Trusted Travel can make it possible.
