Giddy Up , its Groundwater Festival !!
Well, howdy howdy partner, let us tell you about our awesome weekend at the toe tapping Country Music Festival on Broadbeach, Queensland.
With great excitement, we left the Gong, for a weekend of Country Rock and boot scootin fun. We flew into Coolangatta – Bundjalung Nation – where all the festivities began and made our way to, Crown Plaza , Surfers Paradise – our accommodation for the next 4 nights. Wow, it really was Paradise. Our rooms were on the 21st floor with sweeping views of the Gold Coast and the sounds of the ocean. They put on, the yummiest buffet breakfast every morning.
Set next to the pristine beachfront of Broadbeach, the Groundwater Country Music Festival was a perfect mix of board shorts and banjos, surfboards and steel guitars as the country music’s finest assembled for three days and nights of incredible entertainment – celebrating its 10th year running.
On our first day, the Bo’Ness Brothers got us up dancing non-stop and smiling. Bo’Ness is local Indigenous twins Callum and Jackson McPartlane, who have gone on tour with Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning and Ian Moss. We watched them every day of the festival and regularly bumped into them for a chat. Another highlight of the day was incredible Casey Barnes, who put on, an electrifying show and had us all, toe tapping.
On our second day we strolled between the Kurrawa big top tent and many other stages – to be entertained by Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole, Laura Frank and Vixens of Fall – just to name a few. Highlight of the day was the Wolfe Brothers, jaw dropping performance and production. We were howling for more!! It’s no surprise that the Wolfe Brothers are Australia’s most awarded Country rock duo and have earned themselves six Golden Guitar Awards.
We kicked off the next day with more talented Country musicians, including Amber Lawrence and Jeremy Turner. Drum roll …… headliner for the final night was King of Country Music – Lee Kernaghan and what an end to an amazing weekend it was! We all sang along to his iconic songs – like The Outback Club, Australian boy and Boys from the Bush.
In true Trusted Travel style, we had many yummy meals out, including a meal at Kurrawa Surf Club and also Italian at La Porchetta.
Of course, we didn’t want, our weekend to come to an end, but after 3 straight days and nights, our boots were worn out from dancing and our hearts full of joy.
Keep an eye out for the release of next year’s line-up of country rockers, divas and all-round superstars. Trusted Travel will do it all over again!
