Meet Dave, one of Trusted Travel’s awesome tour guides!
Dave has been a support worker for over 15 years and is a true lover of travel having been to almost 100 countries.
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
Bushwalking, adventures, basketball.
And what’s your favourite ever travel destination?
Hmmmm. That’s a hard one. I have a special soft spot for Central America because that’s where I went on my first big backpacking trip. Guatemala was a particular favourite.
What’s your favourite Trusted Travel trip that you have supported on?
Can I have a top 5? Even then it’s hard because every trip is different, and we always have a blast no matter where we are.
- New Zealand
- West Coast Tassie
- Kangaroo Island
- State of Origin in Perth
- Alice Springs and Uluru
What’s the best meal you have had while on a Trusted Travel trip?
These questions don’t get any easier do they?
I’m usually a bit of a flexitarian – veggies are good for you and good for the planet – so when I do eat meat, I want it to be amazing. The scotch fillet from the Ball and Chain Steakhouse in Hobart was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.
What do you enjoy the most about supporting people to create amazing holiday memories?
Of course fun is at the core of what we do at Trusted Travel. No one goes on holidays to not have an awesome time. And of course this job offers some surreal opportunities to experience the world.
But really when it comes down to it, some of the most fulfilling things I have ever been involved in has been supporting people who would otherwise be unable to travel themselves and supporting people to build travel skills. I have seen Trusted Travelers who had never travelled before, or never even had the chance to. They have learnt new skills with our support and are now able to travel independently. That’s the best part of the job.
