Our excited group of trusted travellers eagerly boarded the plane at Sydney, excitedly discussing our upcoming adventures at Phillip Island!
We made our way down by road after flying to Melbourne and checked into our spacious apartment, our home away from home for the next few days.
Our first morning on the island took us on a day trip to Churchill Island, an historic farm and an island of its own. Crossing over another bridge off the main island to get there, quiet, isolated and beautiful are some of the words we’d use to describe it.
We explored Victoria’s first ever farm, being treated to a sheep-shearing show, live blacksmith show and the farm’s cattle dog mustering up the sheep! That night we headed out, and enjoyed the flavours of the local Italian restaurant.
Our next day took us to the koala sanctuary where we marvelled at the cuteness of the local koalas! We took our time exploring the sanctuary and taking in the natural surrounds. We managed to fit in a trip to the chocolate factory, where we sampled some delights and saw chocolate being made! Not sure if any of the chocolate we bought is going to make it home though…
Later on, in the afternoon we all excitedly heading to experience what we came for; to watch the penguin parade – over 3,000 penguins walking past our feet coming in from the surf to nest for the night!
The next day took us to the beautiful views offered up at Nobbies. We explored the boardwalk with sweeping views out to sea. We then enjoyed the interactive shows and Antarctic museum in the afternoon, ready to wrap up our Phillip Island adventure.
That night we had our last meal together at the club and spoke happily about our travels before packing the next day to head home to our loved ones.
