There was high excitement, boarding the Pacific Explorer cruise liner and we had a fantastic evening at the Sail Away Party, which was on the pool deck. We watched the sunset, while dancing to great music and sailing past the spectacular icons of Sydney – Under the Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House.
Tuesday we did lots of relaxing on the ship by the pool. Today was the Great Gatsby theme and some of our group dressed up and looked very dapper. The Explorer Bar was great for socialising and dancing and it was great to meet some of the other passengers. Also in the evening, we enjoyed the Swinging 20’s show at The Marquee.
Wednesday was our adventure to Tangalooma on Moreton Island. It was stunning! We experienced the Morton Bay Aquatic Marine Cruise. We travelled by glass bottom barge tour boat. Viewed the 15 shipwrecks, which were purposely sunk to create a safe harbour for small boats and now home to over 200 tropical fish species. While on the Island we saw pods of dolphins swimming in the bay, they were amazing! It was a fantastic experience. Later back on the ship, in the evening we dined at the Dragon Lady, a fancy al carte restaurant that was enjoyed by all. After dinner more dancing, karaoke and the Beatles Show which was outstanding!
On Thursday, we enjoyed a variety of activities. Some went to Bingo; others did relaxing adult colouring in and some chilled by the pool. Today’s theme was “White Night” with some of our guys getting dressed up in all white! We had dinner at Angelo’s, a very yummy Italian restaurant. In the evening, the group enjoyed the show, “Rock – Anthems of the Ages”, a live band with a dazzling light show. We finished the night off with a Farewell Jam session at The Atrium Deck – the entire crew of on-board musicians entertained us, while we all hit the dance floor. A fantastic way to celebrate our last night on-board.
On our final morning, after a beautiful buffet breakfast and a visually spectacular cruise back into Sydney Harbour, we were home. Coming through the Sydney Heads early in the morning was so pretty and a great way to end our cruise holiday.
Then it was time to say our goodbyes and reminisce about the great times we had together on the cruise.
