On Our Way
We met up at Trusted Travel HQ in Wollongong before travelling to the airport where we joined two more friends, to fly to the Gold Coast. Once there we were joined by yet more travellers and off we went to our home for the next 5 days, Treasure Island Resort. We settled into our rooms for the week.
Our first night saw us enjoying a delicious dinner at Southport Yacht Club, while we watched the yachts bob up and down on their moorings, with the Gold Coast skyline in the distance. Then back home and to bed to get an early start for Movie World the next day.
Movie World
A hearty breakfast at Galleons Bistro before we went for a day of fun at Movie World.
A few thrill seekers in the group wanted to test the rides, while others wanted a slower pace and take selfies with their favourite characters.
A quick pitstop for lunch then, more rides and some shopping for souvenirs for our family and friends. The parade was a huge hit as always, cheering on our favourite characters and superheroes. After our big day out, we opted for dinner at our little bistro at the resort, then back to bed to rest up for tomorrow’s adventure.
Paradise Country
Today took us to our very own paradise – Paradise Country.
Set in an expansive green nature reserve our group excitedly explored, getting up close and personal with koalas, dingos, snakes and Shaun the Sheep, just to name a few.
We also got hands on, panning for real gemstones in a sluice trough.
After a much-needed lunch break, we took off on a tractor ride around the park.
We then made our way back to accommodation for a short rest break before venturing out again. We headed for the surfers paradise night markets, where many goodies including hand made jewellery and delicious treats were discovered! Later we headed to Cavill Ave for a delicious dinner at Hog’s Breath Cafe.
SeaWorld
We started the day with a big breakfast at Treasure Island before heading to Sea World.
We started our adventure at Sea World watching the Seal show. Some of us tried out the new rollercoaster Leviathan while others got photos with our favourite characters, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob Square Pants. We continued travelling around the park trying out rides like the Jet Rescue Coaster, SpongeBob’s boating school, Castaway Bay – Battle Boats and many more.
Throughout the day was saw many animals around the park, such as; polar bears, penguins, seals, sharks, turtles, dolphins, rays and lots of fish. Before leaving the park, we watched two crowd favourites shows: the Dolphins and the Thunder Lake Stunt show.
Our final dinner together was at the Dublin Docks Tavern, where we enjoyed a delicious pub dinner. The night was filled with funny stories and highlights shared throughout the week.
Beachy Goodbyes
After packing up our rooms and enjoying our final breakfast at Treasure Island we hit the road and headed towards Currumbin Beach.
At Currumbin we enjoyed a spectacular view of the beach in the sun before heading home to a cool, southern winter.
