Gentlemen, Start Your Engines
Unlike last year, this year the Bathurst Trusted Travel crew were treated with perfect weather.
After stopping off at the three sisters and picking up a couple of guys on the way we settled into our hotel and got to know each other.
For the next three days we would be travelling to the mountain. We had a great time watching a variety of exciting races including Porches, Utes, and Supercars from different eras as well as to explore pit lane areas, all kinds of motor themed shops and displays ahead of final qualifying for the big race on Sunday.
What a day Sunday was, big, exciting and LOUD. From the sonic boom of the F-35 overhead to the semi-trailers and their air-horns parading the track, Red Bull aerial displays and parachutists, and of course the roar of the Mustangs and Camaros.
Red versus blue, Holden versus Ford, we had people cheering both teams.
This year like last year, it was a Holden triumph again. Shane van Gisburgen proving he is probably the best V8 driver of the modern era in his final appearance at Bathurst before heading to NASCAR next year after also winning his first race there a few weeks before.
Bragging rights go to red for another year.
On our final day we got to drive around parts of the track and did some sightseeing around Bathurst before heading home.
We had a mixed group including several who went last year and a few newbies, but everyone got on so well and had so much fun you’d think this group had been travelling together for years.
Can’t wait till next year!
