Our keen beginner surfers set off down the south coast to the pretty coastal town of Gerroa. We shacked up in our beach cottage, totally pumped for the next few days of surfing. On day 1 we met up with the super cool crew from Surf Camp Australia, got kitted out with our wetsuits and headed for the beach.

The blustery southerly wind didn’t slow down our enthusiastic surfers who braved the choppy swell and completely blew everyone’s expectations out of the water! By day 2 the group’s confidence grew and a few participants even got to their feet!

While in the area we took advantage of the local attractions. In between surf sessions we visited the Kiama Blowhole, took in the foggy views from Saddleback Mountain and caught the ferry over to the nature reserve on Comerong Island.

On the final day with our surfing supervisors, we polished up our new skills and hit the waves again. Some of the group didn’t miss a single opportunity to shred as many waves as possible, while others were happy to ride a few sets and then just enjoy the beach.

The instructors from Surf Camp Australia were fantastic! They were fun and really encouraging. We can’t wait to come back and do it all again next summer!
