There was much excitement onboard the P&O’s exquisite Pacific Explorer as we sailed out of Sydney Harbour to the magnificent backdrop of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and illuminated Sydney skyline. According to weather forecasts, Trusted Travel picked a perfect weekend for our winter escape with a biting cold front chasing our ship up the coast, never to quite catch us.
As always, there was fun, games and world-class entertainment aboard, our gang of seafaring travellers taking in movies, playing bingo and watching dazzling live performances. As many towns in the southern states copped a smattering of snow, we strolled the streets of the sun-drenched beachside town of Mooloolaba.
We had an awesome lunch of big, greasy American-style burgers, bought original artworks as gifts for loved ones and took in the rays before setting sail back south. We sailed back through the icy vortex and some big seas on route to Sydney, loaded up with cool souvenirs and wonderful memories.
The gale force winds had subsided just in time and we awoke to a glorious morning on the calm waters of Sydney Harbour, farewelled our new friends and waved adios to the Pacific Explorer.
