The West coast of Tasmania is one of the most rugged and beautiful places to see and Trusted Travel was up for the adventure.
Iconic Cradle Mountain is a place of exceptional natural beauty in the heart of the Tasmanian wilderness. Our adventurous group were lucky to take in the natural beauty on a sparkling autumn day!
A few of the more intrepid among us walked down to the historic 1940’s boat shed.
Macquarie harbour and the Gordon river offered us some breathtaking views and interesting historic sites from Australia’s convict heritage. As well as alighting at Sarah island for a walk, we were able to take in serene surroundings found only in the Wild West quarter of Tasmania.
Queenstown’s history has long been tied to the mining industry. This mountainous area was first explored in 1862., and then again in 2022 by our intrepid group of travellers. Although there was no gold to be found, the views were sparking and the golden sunshine shone down on
The Don River Railway is a volunteer-run vintage railway and museum a suburb of Devonport, Tasmania. It runs a passenger train ride from Don to Coles Beach and return using part of the former Melrose line on an old 1944 rail motor with our driver Paul and gentleman conductor Barry.
The Cataract Gorge is home to the longest chairlift running for 457m, a beautiful enclave of wilderness set in the heart of Launceston, the ride was picturesque and tranquil, some of us even walked across the suspension bridge, to join our friends and some peacocks for lunch under the glistening Tasmanian sun.
Our last night was a highlight, we dined at the Crazy Duck in Georgetown, a fine dining, farm to table, modern Australian cuisine. After dinner we braved the elements and enjoyed a close encounter in the wild with a colony of little penguins, with Low Head Penguin Tours, which didn’t disappoint.
As with all good things, we have come to the end of our Wild West adventure. Friendships were formed, amazing scenery was taken in and delicious meals were consumed. It’s time to say goodbye to our new found friends and hope we can see each other again on a new adventure!
