It was a beautiful bright morning and there were smiles all round as we met each other and packed the car, said goodbye to families and friends and hit the road! We weren’t going to let the rain, the fires or drought stop us from having a great time on this trip and we certainly made the best of our time away!
We had to adjust some of the activities we had planned because of the fires that had been through the area at Christmas, but we took the opportunity to visit some of the towns hit hard by the fires, support them by buying lunch and “filling our esky” in Bilpin, Blackheath and Mt Victoria. We chatted to the locals and saw firsthand just how harsh the fires were and how the towns had been affected – and to be inspired by the men and women who worked so hard to protect the houses and businesses. Thank you Firies!!!
We visited the Museum of Fire and were able to see the history of firefighting in the country and learnt so much about our heroes.
Our day at Scenic World was so much fun! We jumped on the scenic railway and had a thrilling ride down the mountain, with lots of laughs and screams! The view from the Skyway was so awesome and the falls were flowing because of the rain! We saw the Three Sisters – there was a break in the clouds and the rain just for us!
Our accommodation was amazing – we felt like rock stars!! We visited art galleries and ate like kings in some really lovely local cafes!
We even went flying – We got strapped into our flying suits and had a go at indoor skydiving, the feeling of flying is amazing – we can’t wait to do it again!
