Bris-Vegas lived up to its name – what a great holiday!

We landed at Brisbane airport, got our hire car and were off to the Mantra on Mary; A great place to stay and up on the 37th floor – what a view from all the rooms, especially the balcony! Endless views of Brisbane, the river and further. We really soaked it in while enjoying our Italian dinner.

Crikey! Tuesday we headed out to Australia Zoo and had a fabulous time exploring the incredible range of animals and shows to see. Our guests got up close and personal cuddling a koala, and received some stunning photos of the occasion. The afternoon found us heading through the spectacular glasshouse mountains nearby. We made it to the famous Glass House Mountains Lookout for a view arguably better than the one from our room. The Mountains were much bigger than the skyscrapers and there was wilderness as far as the eye could see. The ultimate Kodak moment!

We headed to a scrumptious Thai restaurant for dinner on the way back who, as well as providing delicious spicy Thai meals, provided some good old fashioned Chinese fried rice for us as well.

Wednesday was a big day. We went to the Brisbane markets and tasted some of the superb foods available and bought home-made Turkish delight and chocolates to take home. This trip was a foodie’s delight, seeing as we enjoyed some splendid Spanish and German meals that same morning.

After the markets, we went on the Brisbane ferry across the famous Brisbane river, explored Southbank and had a picturesque ride on the gigantic Brisbane Wheel – We experienced yet another amazing view across Brisbane from the top.

Wednesday evening found us having dinner at a Japanese restaurant. Yet another cuisine on this trip!

Thursday, we went to the fascinating Workshops Rail Museum in Ipswich, and explored all the wonderful contraptions, models and giant trains they had on offer. The staff were fantastic, regaling us with stories of old – All in all, the museum was a great time.

Speaking to one of the guides there, he noticed our guests had an unusual interest in different foods, and suggested we go to his home town of Darra to try some of their fantastic Vietnamese food. We’d never heard of Darra but we had to agree the food was delicious!

Some more Brisbane sight-seeing done and we decided to have dinner at a Malaysian restaurant. Friday saw us relaxing before heading to the airport and flying home after a memorable trip. It was then we realised that as our guests had loved international food so much, we think they may have set a new Trusted Travel record, 9 international cuisines in 5 days!
