Indigenous culture in Australia is the oldest living culture in the entire world! That’s right! The entire world! And Tweed Heads in Northern NSW is full of places to learn about and experience the culture.

Immerse yourself in Aboriginal culture with a guided tour of the “Dreaming Mountain”, Jellurgal, followed by a live Aboriginal dance performance. Discover facts about traditional life pre-contact, bush tucker, fishing, hunting and learn about the important ecological practices and connection to the land displayed by the Yugambeh speaking people for thousands of years.

Enjoy some green time on a Bush Tucker and Mangrove Explorer Cruise. This ‘adventure in nature’ is a hands-on, fun and informative activity cruise where you get to jump overboard and explore the mangroves and sand islands with a Nature Guide. Learn about the region’s mud crabs, pump for yabbies, get up close with the pelicans, explore the shallows with the ‘water telescopes’ and sample the region’s bush tucker.

For a unique insight into Aboriginal culture, you can’t miss Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. It’s perfect for those looking to learn about local Aboriginal culture. Aboriginal tour guides offer tours through the museum and site, telling you about its relics, plants and animals. Hear how Aboriginal life was when this area was an untouched paradise of natural forest and mangroves, before learning about the cultural significance of Bora Ring, which you can see along the Walk on Water walking track.

Tweed Heads is as far north as you can get in NSW, with the town abutting the Queensland border. The area is a hotbed of activity, with tourism, shopping and beautiful beaches.

You can’t get more Australian than this awesome holiday package! All you need to do is pack your bags and come along for this fantastic experience.

Trusted Travel acknowledges the Ngandowal and Minyungbal people of Bundjalung nation as the continuing custodians of the lands we will be visiting.
